NO ASSETS OR BUSINESSES OF DR. MUSTAPHA ABDUL-HAMID HAVE BEEN SEIZED BY OSP – LEGAL TEAM CLARIFIES.
The legal representatives of Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, former Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), have dismissed as false and misleading recent claims made by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) that assets valued at over GH¢100 million and allegedly linked to their client have been seized.
In an official statement issued by Hay & Partners at Law and signed by Hanifa Yahaya Esq., the legal team emphasized that no assets or businesses owned by or associated with Dr. Abdul-Hamid have been identified, traced, or confiscated by the OSP.
The legal team further highlighted that the OSP’s own amended charge sheet, filed on October 17, 2025, contains no mention of any asset seizure involving Dr. Abdul-Hamid. They accused the OSP of engaging in misleading public commentary and sensationalism rather than fulfilling its mandate with professionalism and accuracy.

“The OSP, as a public institution established under law, is reminded that its officers are bound by constitutional and ethical obligations to discharge their duties with fairness, integrity, and respect for the rights and dignity of all persons,” the statement said, adding that distorted public commentary is “unbecoming of the prosecutorial office.”
The statement also confirmed that Dr. Abdul-Hamid has fully cooperated with the OSP throughout the investigation, attending all court sittings and complying with every invitation extended to him. According to his legal team, this conduct reflects his respect for the rule of law and the judicial process, as he continues to maintain his innocence under the provisions of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana.
“It is deeply regrettable that instead of complying with court orders, the OSP has chosen to engage in media sensationalism,” the lawyers noted. “Any attempt to misinform the public or prejudice opinion against our client undermines the integrity of the justice system.”
The legal team concluded by urging the OSP to uphold the principles of due process and desist from actions that may compromise public trust in Ghana’s legal institutions.
